Okay, I’ve written an article. Now what?
By Jillian | March 13, 2009
Here’s another beautiful aspect of article marketing. Not only can you multiply the power of your article exponentially, by sending it to a number of different article distribution sites, but you can also repurpose each article!
For example, suppose you have a site that features soccer. Perhaps you sell soccer equipment, and keep your readers up to day on soccer events. You’ve written an article on a new professional soccer team. Definitely interesting to your readers and to soccer fans throughout the country – even the world.
Take your article, and make it into a blog post. Put the information into your Facebook page. Break it into small bites, and put it into your Twitter tweets (over several days). Read it into your recorder, and create an audio you can sell (perhaps a downloadable mp3 or a CD you can ship, for those who want a tangible product). Your audio can also become a podcast which you sell through through one of the podcast sites.
By the way, a great way to produce an mp3 is to use the free service, www.FreeConferenceCall.com. This site allows you to record telephone calls, as well as accomodating listeners if you want to do a teleconference.
Turn the information into a short video, and upload it to more than a dozen video sites using the free service, www.TubeMogul.com.
Suddenly, your one idea for an article is all over the Internet, and each link back to your site enhances your standing in the search engines.

Article Marketing on Steroids
By Jillian | January 14, 2009
I’ve posted some information recently about article marketing – certainly one of the best “shortcuts” to getting targeted Internet traffic to your website.
Posting even two or three articles on a site like Ezine Articles can help build your readership. But, of course, the broader your distribution, the more effective your marketing.
There are hundreds of article directory websites where you can post your articles, and I’d recommend you get your article on all of the ones that are relevant to your niche. The only problem is, if you try to do that manually, one by one, you’re going to need hours and hours to devote to the task. Some of the big marketers have full-time employees just working on articles and article distribution.
On my first post in this series, I recommended a much better approach. I think it bears repeating here.
Use Dr. Neil Swanson’s Unique Article Wizard site, where you can upload each article, write a few small variations in the text to assure each article post is accepted, then press a few buttons to distribute to every single directory you designate – all in a few quick and easy steps:
http://www.uniquearticlewizard.com/amember/go.php?r=5130&i=l0
This service is very reasonably priced, and it allows you to submit an unlimited number of articles.
It’s Article Marketing on steroids.

Free Traffic Ideas, continued…
By Jillian | December 27, 2008
For the first couple of posts in this series, I’ve emphasized the value of writing articles to get free traffic to your website. Lots of people have asked me, “Where on earth do I start?” Here are some ideas.
Your articles don’t have to be long or complicated. In fact, most articles will be around 600 words, and never more than 800 words. Articles should be double spaced; one page double spaced will contain around 250 words. An easy way to write an article is to make a list.
For example, suppose you have a website geared to parents of young children. What is a subject of compelling interest to those parents?
You could write an article on potty training, and call it: Seven Easy Tips to Potty Train Your Toddler. You’re experienced is dealing with toddlers, and you’ve probably potty trained your own. Perhaps you’ve done some reading on the subject. What are seven things a parent can do to make potty training go smoothly? Write an introductory paragraph, a couple of paragraphs on each of the tips, and a closing paragraph. Just like that, you’ve written an article parents will want to read.
Another type of list is composed of “steps.” For example, if you have a website on relationships, you might write an article entitled: Ten Steps to the Perfect Date. This would be a simple, fun to read list of the things a guy can do to ensure an enjoyable date night. The list might include things like:
1. Find out what activities your lady friend enjoys. Is she an out-of-doors type? Then a picnic might be in order. If her idea of camping out is staying on the second floor of the Holiday Inn, you’re probably better off finding out what type of food she enjoys, and scheduling dinner in a nice restaurant.
2. Plan in advance. Call your date by Tuesday evening if you’re planning a date for Friday or Saturday night. Make reservations for dinner, or for a play or concert, early enough to ensure you’ll have seating.
3. Send flowers. If you’re treating this date as an “occasion,” and you really want to sweep her off her feet, send her flowers on Thursday. Ask the florist to include a note saying you’re looking forward to spending time with her.
You get the picture. These types of articles are easy to write when you know your subject, whether it’s golf or tennis, auto maintenance or line dancing, finding a good doctor or planning a trip to the tropics.
If you would rather have your teeth drilled than write an article, don’t despair. Perhaps your spouse or a friend might be interested in writing the articles. If you’re writing about football, and you have a buddy who knows every stat and is accustomed to writing in his work, perhaps he’d have fun writing a few articles for you. If you’re in college and starting a site, you probably have friends who’d love to write articles for you for $20 each.
There are also a number of reasonably priced services that offer ghost writing assistance. Ghost writers produce the work, then release any ownership. You publish the articles under your name, with your copyright. You can look for ghost writers at:
At these sites you offer a job for bidding, then review the bidders and select a contractor to do the work. At RentaCoder, you may pay as little as $12 per article. You can read the ratings given each bidder by previous buyers; I also ask for a number of samples of work from every bidder I am considering.

More About Article Marketing for Free Traffic
By Jillian | December 23, 2008
This is the second part of a series I’m doing this week on getting free traffic. I’m a big believer in free traffic. Yes, you can buy traffic, but IMHO, spending money should happen only after you’ve exhausted all the no-cost ways to get folks to visit your website.
As I said yesterday, I consider article marketing to be the “front line” for free traffic.
Articles (Part Two)
Yesterday’s post detailed some of the main advantages of distributing articles on the Internet. Here’s an additional benefit: Articles brand you as an expert in your subject area.
Almost always, when I bring up this point, I meet resistance. Most of us are so aware of what we still have to learn in any subject that we tend to discount the value of what we already know.
For example, if you cook regularly for family and friends, and they enjoy your food, you’re an expert. Now, you may hold up the palm of your hand your hand and say, “No… I’m no Rachel Ray, or Julia Child.” And maybe you’re not. Maybe you never went to culinary school or were head chef in a 4 star restaurant. But you DO know more about cooking that hundreds of thousands of poor souls who can’t boil water – and want to learn!
Here’s a beautiful aspect of the Internet. As of this morning, according to Internet World Stats, 1,463,632,361 people around the world are regular Internet users. That’s nearly 1.5 Billion!
Many of these people, in the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand, are native English speakers. In addition, a huge number of people who live in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America, also speak English as a second language (or third – we Americans tend to forget how language-literate people are in other countries). So they are searching English language websites on the Internet, as well as sites constructed in their other language or languages.
That means, even though you aren’t Rachel Ray, and you don’t have a television cooking program, you do possess a level of expertise that has genuine value to your target market – millions of people who want to learn how to cook, and need a guide who speaks English.
So get out there and stake your claim to fame! And in the process, invite potentially hundreds of thousands, or even millions, of new visitors to your website.
Unsure how to go about writing articles to promote your work, and your website? I’ll cover that tomorrow.
Meanwhile, I still have one opening in my Internet Business Incubator 8-Week Personal Mentoring Program. Through this program, I’m your personal guide through the entire process of becoming a successful Internet business owner. Read more at:

How to Get Free Traffic to Your Website
By Jillian | December 22, 2008
When I’m coaching new Internet business owners, one of the first questions I always hear is, “How do I get traffic to my site?”
After all, there’s no point having a website, if no one ever visits. Worse yet, if no one visits, no one buys.
Of course, there are a number of ways you can spend money to get traffic. But before you spend a penny, consider all the ways to get free traffic. I’m going to be talking about some of those “free traffic” methods in this blog post and over the next several days.
So let’s begin…
Articles (Part One)
In my opinion, one of the most powerful ways to get free traffic is by writing and publishing articles.
Articles work on a number of levels. You can put your articles up on your own website as content, but you can do so much more as well.
Other website owners all over the world are also looking for content. One of the resources they use (and you can, too) is article directories. There are hundreds of article directories, which are repositories of articles on every conceivable subject. As an example, one well-known directory is www.EzineArticles.com.
The person searching for content goes to the article directory, searches for articles on his or her chosen subject, then republishes the article on his website. As part of his permission to republish, he or she includes, along with the article, the Resource Box. The Resource Box contains the name of the author and a bit of information the author has specified, along with a link back to the author’s website.
It is not an exaggeration to say you can write one article and place it in one directory, and within a few months, discover that it has been republished on thousands of other Internet sites all over the world. You can imagine many people will then be exposed to your article, and become interested in visiting your website.
In addition to the traffic benefit derived when people happen upon and follow a link back to your website, there is the additional SEO (search engine optimization) benefit. The search engines increase your site’s rankings in direct relationship to the number of “relevant links” back to your site. Relevant links are links from sites whose subject content is similar to that of your site.
How do you find out about all these article directories? And, how do you access them all? Posting new articles can be a full-time job in itself. In fact, website owners often hire someone just to send out articles.
A better way is to use a service that allows you to upload each article once, and send it out automatically to every appropriate article directory simultaneously. Here’s a link to the service I recommend:
http://www.uniquearticlewizard.com/amember/go.php?r=5130&i-10
You do pay for this service, but the price is very reasonable, and you can upload an unlimited number of articles. They also allow you to vary some of the language (to bypass a function of some of the directories, which do not accept articles which have been submitted to a certain number of other sites in the same form).
I’ll have more about article marketing tomorrow, in part two. To be sure you don’t miss it, I recommend you press the big orange button at the top right hand corner of this blog, and subscribe for all my updates.
And please add your comments – I always value your feedback!

Hello, again
By Jillian | November 12, 2008
After a few introductory posts earlier this year, this blog has definitely languished. I’ve been busy writing and creating products, but now I’m back and ready to talk about Internet marketing!
Last night I was at a club in downtown Austin, hanging out with thirty or so of my fellow Internet marketers. The group included at least four people whose incomes I know will exceed five million dollars this year – one guy is approaching twenty million. It’s amazing how many really successful online business owners live in and around Austin – or perhaps not, considering what a great city this is. Austin really supports creativity, whether in music, art, or business, and the lifestyle is relaxed and laid-back. Pretty much tailor made for anyone who wants to live and work on his own terms.
Aside from the camaraderie, I was there to scope out resources to share with you at YourInternetCashMachine.com. As you know, the purpose of the site is to provide education and information to help you build your Internet Cash Machine. Every month, our Silver Members receive two educational offerings, often a DVD and an interview. The topics are targeted to beginning and intermediate Internet businesses.
Last night I spent time with the creators of one of the most successful AdWords programs in the industry, an expert in WordPress, a woman who’s a Social Media marketing maven, and a fellow who can teach you how to exit your job with minimal discomfort. If you’re already a Silver Member of the site, stay tuned for some great information over the next several months!
If you’d like to grab a Silver Membership for yourself, it’s easy to do, at: www.YourInternetCashMachine.com.

Climbing the Charts on Amazon
By Jillian | January 7, 2008
Your Internet Cash Machine, The Insiders’ Guide to Making Big Money, Fast! is now available on Amazon, and it will be in bookstores within the next few days. Co-author Joe Vitale and I will be doing a big launch of the book on Tuesday, January 15. Be sure to order on the 15th, or before, then go to the website on the January 15 to collect all the great bonuses! If you’ve already purchased, go to the site that day and there will be away for you to participate.
Meanwhile, tell all your friends they can still get a free copy of the Sampler eBook at: www.YourInternetCashMachine.com/sampler. This is the book for anyone who has ever dreamed about leaving a regular job, and creating a truly prosperous yet flexible lifestyle!
Joe’s birthday was December 29th, so Lola Jones and Michael Abedin celebrated with a party at their place, City View Ranch. The house is a beautiful showcase of Lola’s amazing art. Guests filled every room and spilled outside onto the decks, into tents and around a big fire. The place lives up to its name; all the lights of Austin were spread out below us.
My friend and Director of Marketing, Vicki Flaugher, brought her own copy of the book for Joe to autograph, and we got a picture of the three of us (that’s Vicki in the middle). Vicki makes a tremendous contribution to all we do around here.

A few days later I drove out to Joe and Nerissa’s and spent the day. Nerissa took a picture of us in the kitchen, surrounded by stacks of books we signed while we visited.

As of this moment, Monday afternoon, the book is #1 in three Business categories on Amazon:
Amazon.com Sales Rank: #1,918 in Books (See Bestsellers in Books)
Popular in these categories: (What’s this?)
| #1 in | Books > Business & Investing > Marketing & Sales > Marketing > Direct |
| #1 in | Books > Computers & Internet > Networking > Network Security |
| #1 in | Books > Computers & Internet > Software > Personal Finance > Investing |
How cool is that?
BTW, when you do receive your copy of the book, would you consider writing a review and submitting it on Amazon?
It’s easy to do. Simply go to www.Amazon.com, enter “Your Internet Cash Machine” under books, then go to the sales page. Scroll down to the button near the bottom that says “Submit a Review.”
Thanks in advance!
